Canoga Park, CA – February 2021 – LA Family Housing celebrated the grand opening of The Willows project, a 75-bed interim housing development in the west San Fernando Valley for individuals and couples experiencing homelessness. This new property will provide safe and stable temporary housing for 28 women, 41 men, and six couples experiencing homelessness.
The Willows will quickly bring homeless Angelenos off the streets and help them rebuild their lives. LA Family Housing’s staff will provide 24/7 on-site supportive services including mental health care, recovery support, counseling for those who have experienced domestic violence, security and housing placement services to help residents find a permanent home.
The scope of work involved the conversion of a one-story, 16,000 s.f., abandoned mental health facility into what you see today—all new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as well as the build-out of all new bathrooms, laundry facilities, hygiene stations, a recreation room, dining area, outdoor communal space, outdoor pet area and kennels, a conference room, and administrative offices.
Oltmans provided general contracting services as well as self-performed the drywall and concrete scopes of work.
Many thanks to LA Family Housing for all that you do for the community. Oltmans Construction Co. is proud to have been involved with such a significant community project.
