Olive Crest Academy

Olive Crest Academy was established in 1993 to provide an educational program for children in Orange and Los Angeles counties. The Academy's 360° approach to education is designed to focus on the unique needs of the whole child, ensuring every student is provided the support, resources, and instruction they need to grow in all areas of life. We embrace students who exhibit even the toughest challenges, instilling in them a sense of belonging while giving them the opportunity to shine.

Purchased in 2015, the Olive Crest Academy’s newest location opened in Garden Grove with the campus’s ongoing renovation and operations being led by Principal and Director of Education, Robert Henning, Ed.D. The K-8 school currently services 75 students, with the anticipation of up to 150 students after renovations are complete, spanning from San Juan Capistrano to Whittier and Compton.

Formerly a Korean-American Lutheran Church and Sunday school, Oltmans Construction Co. has been involved in the conversion of Olive Crest Academy’s newest campus in Garden Grove since the property’s purchase. Since then, the Oltmans Foundation has been responsible for the renovation of two (2) buildings on the new campus as well as the addition of a new outdoor playground and concrete work in the parking lot. Oltmans’ drywall team self-performed the demolition and construction of the entire basement and first floor of the school building into new classrooms and administrative offices.\

Oltmans Concrete self-performed the site paving alongside Cemex an industry-leading global construction materials and solutions company.

Early on in the renovation process a leak was identified in the basement and electrical room. To fix this, polyurethane resin was injected into the wall at high pressures, forcing the material into the crevices and holes, plugging up any areas where leakage may occur. This substantially reduced leaks in critical rooms in the basement like the electrical room. When additional leaks were discovered in the same location, Oltmans oversaw the paving of the landscaping above ground to further act as a water mitigation barrier.

Until Fall of 2021, the chapel and parts of the primary building continued to be used for church services relating to an agreement made with the owners of the property. Once vacated Olive Crest plans to convert the chapel into a multipurpose room for student assemblies.
